NEET-UG Controversy: Exam Integrity Under Scrutiny Amid Allegations

Sixty-three cases of unfair practices were reported in NEET-UG, with 23 candidates debarred. Although NTA officials insist no paper leak occurred, allegations of irregularities and mark inflation have sparked criticism. The Education Ministry has set up a panel to review these issues, with potential steps including a retest for affected students.

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) faces scrutiny as officials report 63 instances of unfair practices. Despite assurances of exam integrity, complaints of irregularities and mark inflation persist. Subodh Kumar Singh, Director General of NTA, confirmed that while some students have been debarred, the majority of allegations lack evidence.

A committee of educational experts has been formed to address the reported cases of impersonation, cheating, and OMR sheet tampering. The panel's preliminary findings have already led to various periods of debarments.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry could mandate a retest for nearly 1,600 students, pending the recommendations of a separate panel reviewing the awarding of grace marks. As the matter reaches the top court, the NTA maintains that most claims are attempts to create a 'fake narrative' around the exam's integrity.
