National Testing Agency Postpones June CSIR-UGC-NET Due to Logistic Issues

The National Testing Agency has postponed the June 2024 edition of the Joint CSIR-UGC-NET exam due to unavoidable circumstances and logistic challenges. This follows the cancellation of the exam earlier. Over 2 lakh students had registered for the test, which determines eligibility for junior research fellowships and PhD admissions.

Amid a growing controversy over irregularities in exams, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Friday the postponement of the June edition of the Joint Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC-NET). The delay has been attributed to unavoidable circumstances and logistic issues.

The Joint CSIR-UGC-NET exam, which determines eligibility for junior research fellowships and assistant professorships in science courses, comes just days after the NTA canceled an earlier UGC-NET exam due to compromised integrity.

Originally scheduled between June 25-27, 2024, the exam's new dates will soon be announced on the official website. Reacting to the postponement, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized the NTA, dubbing it 'Narendra's Trauma Agency for youth.' The exam is crucial for admissions in premier institutions like IITs and IISERs, and this year saw over 2 lakh registrations.
