Young Innovators Shine at West Bengal's 'Let's Code' Event

Students from 11 government-run or -aided schools in West Bengal showcased innovative projects aimed at solving real-life problems at the 'Let's Code' event, organized by Capgemini and NGO Change Initiatives. The event is part of the state's new education policy focused on industry collaboration.

In an impressive display of youthful ingenuity, students from 11 West Bengal government-run or -aided schools on Friday showcased their inventions aimed at solving real-life issues, such as a ‘smart medicine box’ for medication reminders. The event, 'Let's Code,' was organized under the state's new education policy intending to integrate industry practices into learning.

Soubhik Mondal, a student from Kalikapur Ramkamal Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, introduced a 'smart medicine box' at the event. 'We have used a Real-Time Clock module, plus an LCD for current time and medication alerts, and a buzzer,' he said. The event was spearheaded by Capgemini and NGO Change Initiatives.

Capgemini Technology Services India Ltd Vice-President, Kumar Anurag Pratap, commented, 'Our project targets economically disadvantaged students who lack opportunities to showcase their talents. The best ideas will be taken onto a national platform.' State education directorate official, Shabina N Omar, highlighted the new education policy's focus on employability and skill development for preparing students for a global workforce.
