CBI Set to File Charge Sheet in UGC-NET Exam Screenshot Scandal

The CBI will likely charge a youth for circulating a doctored screenshot of the UGC-NET exam paper on Telegram, leading to the exam's cancellation. The investigation found no large-scale conspiracy, limiting charges to cheating attempts. Over 11 lakh candidates were affected, and the exam will be rescheduled.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is expected to file a charge sheet against a young individual who allegedly circulated a doctored screenshot of the UGC-NET exam paper on Telegram, causing the cancellation of the exam, according to officials.

CBI investigations revealed that the screenshot of the question paper for the June 18 UGC-NET exam was doctored by a school student. The agency, finding no large-scale conspiracy, has decided to limit the charges to attempted cheating or cheating.

More than 11 lakh candidates who registered for the exam were affected by the cancellation, which occurred after the Union Education Ministry acted on inputs from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit. The exam will now be rescheduled from August 21 to September 4.
