JNU VC Clarifies Weekend Classes Decision Amid CUET-UG Delays

Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice-Chancellor Santishree D. Pandit announced that the decision to hold weekend classes to cover syllabus delays will be made by the deans of respective schools and faculty. This move comes in response to the late CUET-UG results affecting the academic session's start.

In light of the delayed CUET-UG results, Jawaharlal Nehru University may consider holding weekend classes to cover up for lost time, according to Vice-Chancellor Santishree D. Pandit. However, she clarified that this decision would rest entirely with the deans of the schools and the faculty members.

The university administration will not intervene and will instead leave the discretion to each department's leadership, Pandit told PTI. She emphasized that faculty and deans, who understand the instructional dynamics better, will decide on the necessity of extra classes or other measures.

JNU plans to continue participating in centrally held entrance exams like CUET-UG and UGC NET for admissions. The delay in CUET UG results was due to a re-test for over 1,000 students following complaints about time loss owing to the distribution of incorrect question papers.
