Delhi University Proposes Donation-Driven Naming Rights

Philanthropists may soon have the opportunity to name and rename infrastructure at Delhi University via donations. Depending on the donation amount, naming rights span from 10 to 33 years. The proposal also includes guidelines for funding scholarships and awards, with minimum donations set for different durations.

Philanthropists might soon gain the chance to name and rename infrastructure at Delhi University through significant donations, according to a new policy proposal.

The initiative allows donors to decide the names of new or existing structures for specified periods based on their contributions. For donations of Rs 5 crore and above, the naming rights last for 33 years; for Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore, it's for 20 years; and for Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore, it's for 10 years.

The Executive Council, Delhi University's top decision-making body, will review the proposal. A four-member panel also recommended guidelines for accepting donations to establish new scholarships and awards, emphasizing that such initiatives hadn't been instituted for years. The committee suggested these recommendations for financial sustainability.
