In a tragic incident, three civil service aspirants lost their lives after drowning in the flooded basement of a coaching centre in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar on Saturday evening. The heavy rains caused significant waterlogging, leading to the unfortunate deaths.
The victims include Tanya Soni, 21, a Delhi University student originally from Telangana but native to Bihar's Aurangabad. She had joined the coaching institute a month and a half ago and was living in a women's hostel of DU's Maharaja Agrasen College.
Another victim, Navin Dalwin, 29, from Ernakulam in Kerala, was pursuing a PhD in Arts and Aesthetics at JNU. He had joined the coaching centre eight months ago and was staying in Vasant Kunj near the university. The third victim, Shreya Yadav, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar, had moved to Delhi in April for coaching, following her BSc in agriculture.
Family members of the victims have been informed, and autopsies have been conducted. The parents of Tanya and Navin are expected to reach Delhi soon, while Shreya's body has already been taken back to her hometown.
