The Union education ministry has unveiled new guidelines to implement bagless days for students in classes 6-8, aiming to make school education more joyful, experiential, and stress-free.
Released on the fourth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, the guidelines developed by PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education promise to integrate vocational training and hands-on experience into the curriculum. Students will have a 10-day bagless period, working with local vocational experts like carpenters, gardeners, and potters.
The initiative seeks to break boundaries between theoretical and practical knowledge, helping students explore potential career paths through activities like gardening, pottery, and electric work. The program is flexible, allowing schools to distribute bagless days across the academic year, and includes a range of experiential learning activities such as surveys, charity work, and creative workshops.
