MoE Rules Out MPs' Quota for Kendriya Vidyalayas Admissions

The Ministry of Education has confirmed there are no plans to reinstate the MPs' discretionary quota for admissions in Kendriya Vidyalayas. This decision aims to manage the high pupil-teacher ratio, which was previously impacted by over-admissions under special provisions.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) announced on Wednesday that it has ruled out any proposal to resume the discretionary quota for MPs in the admission process of Kendriya Vidyalayas.

This information was disclosed by Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary in a written response to Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi. Chaudhary explained that the MP's quota was negatively impacting the learning environment due to increased high pupil-teacher ratios in classrooms.

Chaudhary emphasized that currently, there is no plan to reinstate this quota, which allowed MPs to recommend the admission of up to 10 children per year. The discretionary quota was officially scrapped in 2022 by the central government to manage class sizes effectively.
