Kerala's General Education and Labour Minister, V Sivankutty, has confirmed that school classes in the landslide-hit Wayanad district will recommence within 10-20 days. The decision was made after a meeting involving teachers, PTA, and other stakeholders.

Minister Sivankutty assured that all necessary basic facilities will be upgraded in the schools before classes resume, in line with directives from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to ensure uninterrupted education for children in the affected areas.

In addition, financial aid will be provided to injured laborers and the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster. Migrant workers affected by the tragedy will also receive financial assistance, including medical treatment support. The Labour Board will offer Rs. one lakh as a first installment to the families of deceased workers. Search and rescue operations continue, with the current death toll standing at 226.
