Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday dismissed allegations that the Preamble to the Constitution has been removed from NCERT textbooks, labeling them baseless and accusing the Congress of using the issue for 'politics of lies'. This, he said, showcases the opposition party's negative mentality.
Pradhan further alleged that the Congress has historically had disdain for India's development and education system. He accused those who criticize the Indian education system without seeking the truth of playing with the future of children.
The education minister’s statements came after reports surfaced claiming the removal of the Preamble from certain textbooks, which was refuted by NCERT's Department of Curriculum Studies and Development head, Ranjana Arora, who affirmed that the allegation was groundless.
Pradhan highlighted that the National Education Policy (NEP) has, for the first time, accorded significant respect to various elements of the Indian Constitution in textbooks, including the Preamble, fundamental duties, fundamental rights, and the national anthem.
He criticized Congress for leveraging children to further their political agenda, calling it a reflection of their 'disgusting mentality'. According to Pradhan, Congress has been inspired by outdated ideologies and has consistently opposed India's progress and educational reforms.
Pradhan argued that focusing solely on the Preamble reveals Congress's limited understanding of constitutional values. He accused Congress members, who parade as 'fake Constitution lovers', of historically violating the Constitution's essence.
Pradhan concluded by urging the Congress party to first grasp the essence of the Constitution, its values, and the NEP, and to cease their 'petty politics' involving the nation's children.
