The State Platform for Common School System-Tamil Nadu (SPCSS-TN) has urged the Tamil Nadu government to discontinue 'Remembrance of the Horrors of Partition' events in schools.

The Governor's Secretary, R Kirlosh Kumar, had written to TN Schools Nursery, Primary, Matric, CBSE & ICSE Association advising them to observe ''Partition Horrors Remembrance Day,'' according to SPCSS-TN's general secretary, PB Prince Gajendra Babu, in a memorandum to Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena. Babu contended that involving children in partition-related programs could psychologically affect them and incite hatred.

Babu also argued that the letter from the Governor's Secretariat was not in 'accordance with rule of law' and should be withdrawn. He urged the association to refrain from proceeding with the events. SPCSS-TN, a group of educationists and activists following socialist principles, appealed for immediate action to stop such activities in schools.
