The University of Southampton has made a significant stride by securing approval from the University Grants Commission to establish a branch campus in India, a first for any UK Russell Group university under the 2020 National Education Policy.
In a ceremony held in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan handed over the Letter of Intent, highlighting the 'internationalisation at home' vision of NEP 2020.
Minister Jaishankar emphasized that this aligns with India’s goal to elevate its educational standards to global levels, while Minister Pradhan noted the effort's potential to turn India into a global education hub. The new campus, set to open in Gurugram, NCR, will provide world-class education and foster strong industry links through strategic collaborations.
