Female students of an engineering college reported to Mines Minister K Ravindra on Friday that the management tried to cover up the discovery of hidden cameras in a women's washroom and threatened those who complained.
Protests erupted at S R Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Krishna district as students demanded justice.
Ravindra, accompanied by the district collector and superintendent of police, vowed that the culprits would be punished, while Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ordered an inquiry into the matter.
Despite police reports stating no hidden cameras were found, confidence-building measures and a special investigation team were established.
Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh also ordered an enquiry, emphasizing stringent actions against those responsible to prevent future incidents.
