In 2024, Britain recorded a troubling surge in antisemitism, marking the year's incidents as the second worst historically, according to recent data from the Community Security Trust (CST). Over 3,500 acts of hatred towards Jews were documented, underscoring ongoing challenges despite a noticeable decline from 2023 figures.
Enhanced by heightened tensions following the October 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel and the ensuing conflict in Gaza, antisemitic incidents have been alarmingly high. CST, which advises Britain's Jewish community on security, noted the persistence of hatred, particularly in schools, synagogues, and online platforms.
To address the threat, the UK government pledged increased financial support to the CST, raising funds to £18 million for protective measures. Interior Minister Yvette Cooper emphasized the zero tolerance stance against antisemitism, urging efforts to combat its spread across the nation.
