In a startling incident, seven students from a government primary school in Gujarat's Gir Somnath district sustained injuries when a portion of the ceiling came crashing down during a prayer gathering.

The mishap occurred in the school's lobby, where students from Class 4 and 5 had assembled. Despite the chaos, the injuries were deemed minor, and all affected students were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The school's principal, Arvind Solanki, noted that the ongoing renovation and proximity to the sea, which causes faster corrosion of building materials, contributed to the mishap. Authorities are expected to decide on the building's fate following discussions at a school management committee meeting.
