UNESCO has officially taken on the role of co-chair in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Donor Coordination Group for 2025, marking a significant step forward in its commitment to supporting education reform efforts in Uzbekistan. The transition was confirmed during the 6th meeting of the TVET Coordination Group, presided over by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation (MHESI) and previously co-chaired by Germany.
By assuming this position, UNESCO aims to reinforce efforts focused on quality, inclusivity, and sustainability in Uzbekistan's vocational education and training sector. The TVET Coordination Group remains a central platform for enhancing stakeholder collaboration, streamlining resources, and ensuring a unified approach to reform.
Strengthening Coordination for Effective Reform
During the meeting, Sara Noshadi, UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan, expressed gratitude for Germany's leadership in laying a strong foundation for TVET initiatives. She reaffirmed UNESCO's dedication to advancing this work, ensuring alignment with both national and global education goals.
"We are taking over this task, fully aware of the responsibility and grateful for the trust placed in UNESCO. Our objective is to ensure that every action contributes meaningfully to strengthening Uzbekistan's education system," she stated.
Ms. Noshadi also underscored the importance of coordination in driving sustainable reform. "Effective coordination is crucial for making reforms work. This platform enables us to bring our efforts together, optimize resources, and avoid overlaps. By collaborating, we can identify and address gaps more effectively, accelerating progress in improving vocational education and training."
Prioritizing Specialized Sub-Working Groups
Looking ahead to 2025, UNESCO is committed to maintaining the ongoing momentum while intensifying discussions within specialized sub-working groups. These groups focus on key areas such as dual education, quality assurance, and teacher training, providing in-depth insights essential for refining reform strategies.
The structured approach within these sub-groups facilitates knowledge-sharing and the development of targeted solutions to enhance Uzbekistan's TVET sector. By delving deeper into these critical aspects, stakeholders can ensure the effective implementation of reforms that align with the country's broader educational and economic goals.
TVET Coordination Group: A Hub for Progress
Hosted by MHESI, the TVET Coordination Group convenes quarterly, offering a crucial platform for stakeholders to align their efforts, share best practices, and assess progress in the vocational education sector. This collaborative space ensures that Uzbekistan's TVET reforms remain on track and continue to evolve to meet the demands of the workforce and society.
With UNESCO at the helm alongside MHESI, the future of vocational education and training in Uzbekistan is poised for strengthened coordination, strategic investment, and impactful reforms. This partnership reaffirms UNESCO's dedication to fostering an inclusive, high-quality education system that empowers learners and contributes to national development.
