New Wave of Educators Transforms Mizoram Schools

The Zoram People's Movement government in Mizoram, led by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, has recruited 1,507 new teachers since coming to power in December 2023. Education Minister Vanlalthlana informed the assembly about the recruitment across various school levels, despite some recruits not joining. Replacement plans are underway.

The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) government in Mizoram, led by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, has ushered a significant transformation in the state's educational sector by appointing 1,507 new teachers across various schools since taking office in December 2023.

Education Minister Vanlalthlana revealed in an assembly session that the recruitment initiative, undertaken since assuming power, has been a major stride following their electoral success, which saw the ZPM secure 27 of the 40 seats in the state assembly.

Despite the notable recruitment drive, some challenges persist, as 526 recruits failed to report for their roles. In response, the government intends to pull from a reserved list to fill vacancies in middle and high schools, while initiating further recruitment for primary school roles lacking a reserve list.
