Odisha's Educational Ascent: From 14th to 5th in PGI Rankings
Odisha has improved its school education ranking to 5th nationally in India's Performance Grading Index (PGI-2.0) under the leadership of former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The state rose from 14th place in 2019-2020 to earn a PRACHESTA-3 grade for 2023-2024, reflecting significant strides in education outcomes and governance.

Odisha has notably improved its position in India's national school education rankings, climbing to the 5th spot in the Performance Grading Index (PGI-2.0). This achievement marks a substantial leap from its previous 14th rank in the 2019-2020 academic year.
Under the leadership of former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, and with the implementation of the #5T initiative, Odisha made significant strides in transforming approximately 7,000 schools. This led to the enhancement of education quality, empowering students across the state.
The recent report from the Ministry of Education highlighted Odisha's success, particularly in the ''access'' domain, where it achieved the highest grade. The PGI evaluates school education on 73 indicators, focusing on outcomes and governance, showcasing Odisha's commitment to educational excellence.
