On Tuesday, Tripura CM Manik Saha ordered the Education Department to investigate the tragic death of a promising class 12 student who allegedly committed suicide after being humiliated by a teacher. The case has sparked significant outrage across the state.
The incident, which unfolded in South Tripura's Sonapur, prompted the creation of a three-member committee led by the director of secondary education. This committee is tasked with delving into the circumstances surrounding the alleged suicide.
Initial reports suggest the student, a high achiever in her class, was scolded by a teacher regarding her Biology paper evaluation and later consumed pesticide. Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman stepped in to provide financial assistance to her impoverished family for her last rites.
