WBJEE Results Set to Release as Supreme Court Clears OBC List Hurdle

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) results are set for release after the Supreme Court lifted a Calcutta High Court stay on a revised OBC list. The state education department is ready to proceed, and the results announcement is imminent following legal consultations and state directives.

With the Supreme Court's recent decision, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) results are now cleared for publication. A July 28 order overturned a Calcutta High Court's stay on implementing the state's revised list of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), paving the way for progress.

Education Minister Bratya Basu expressed readiness, stating that the department anticipated the ruling and is prepared for immediate action. Board chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee, cautiously optimistic, confirmed that directives were received, with announcements pending as of July 31.

Previously, legal complexities had delayed results set for a July 5 release, stemming from a high court order against the state's OBC reservations. The Supreme Court deemed the order erroneous, reinstating the state's role in executive functions and resolving the issue for the awaited WBJEE outcome.
