The state government of Goa has launched the Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana to empower women in rural areas. In a bid to enhance digital literacy among women in rural Goa, the state government has introduced the Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana. Announced by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte at Porvorim's PAC Hall Secretariat, the scheme is a significant step towards equipping women with essential digital skills.
This initiative offers training on the use of smartphones and online navigation, enabling women to access various government services. The program targets Goan women aged 18 and above, who must have lived in the state for a minimum of 15 years. Training sessions will take place at local venues such as panchayat halls and schools.
Financial support for the project includes Rs 500 per participant for training, with funds distributed to the training centers and IT Goa, along with an additional Rs 100 per person for infrastructure costs. This program, managed by the Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd, will run for three years and aligns with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
