In a shocking turn of events, two students from North Eastern Hill University were critically injured after a drunken security guard rammed his vehicle into them. This tragic incident was reported near the university's gate number 2 on Monday evening.
The security guard, reportedly intoxicated, lost control of his car, colliding first with a parked scooter before striking the students, Daritngen Pohdukhei and Stephanie Shadap from the Chemistry Department. CCTV footage revealed the high-speed impact moments before the crash.
The victims remain in critical condition at Nazareth Hospital. Meanwhile, the guard has been detained by police, and a thorough investigation is underway to determine the precise causes and accountability in this grave matter.
