Return to Tradition: University of Calcutta's Convocation After Six Years

The University of Calcutta will host its long-awaited convocation ceremony on March 23, resuming the tradition at its College Street campus after a six-year break due to administrative hurdles and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vice-Chancellor Ashutosh Ghosh confirmed that all necessary approvals have been obtained for the event, which will take place in the historic Centenary Auditorium. The ceremony will be led by West Bengal Governor RN Ravi, the chancellor of state-run universities.
Around 1,100 doctoral scholars from 2024 to 2026 are poised to receive their degrees. Additionally, honorary degrees will be awarded to distinguished individuals, including scientist Vijay Pandurang Bhatkar and educationist Ranajit Das.
