Following the directive of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including meal management and hygiene practices. The opposition BJD is demanding a judicial probe and has warned of district-wide protests if their demands remain unmet.
The affected students had consumed fermented rice, mashed potatoes, and mango chutney, leading to their sickness. The school's headteacher has been suspended, and compensation has been announced for the deceased student's family. Meanwhile, the local community's frustration escalated into clashes with the police, intensifying the demand for accountability.
