In a decisive move to enforce the teaching of Marathi across educational institutions, schools in Maharashtra could face fines reaching Rs 1 lakh or even lose recognition if they fail to comply with the mandatory language law.
The School Education Department solidified this directive via a Government Resolution (GR), responding to accusations that central board schools were neglecting the rule implemented in 2020.
Designated authorities will conduct inspections, and non-compliant institutions will face an organized process of notifications and penalties, with possibilities for challenging penalties in specific forums.
