Funding Crisis in Palghar Schools: A Looming Educational Challenge
The Palghar Zilla Parishad has suspended classes for ninth and tenth graders across 57 schools due to funding issues and legal challenges, affecting teacher salaries. A solution involves integrating affected students into nearby private or government schools, though concerns about increased dropout rates, especially among girls, have arisen.

In a troubling development for education in Palghar, the Zilla Parishad has announced the suspension of its class 9 and 10 divisions across 57 schools. This decision cites financial shortfalls and legal hurdles concerning teacher salary approvals as key reasons.
The Tribal Development Department has not sanctioned funds, citing the absence of state endorsement for the teaching positions. With funds previously sourced from the 'Cess Fund', which is designated for developmental projects, the administration has now halted these educational services.
Officials have directed the integration of affected students into proximate secondary or Ashram schools by June 10. However, activists worry about a rise in dropout rates, especially among female students, in this tribal-rich region. Vivek Pandit of the Shramjeevi Organisation has reached out to the Chief Minister for urgent intervention.
