The discovery led to student protests, blaming mental torture by seniors; no previous complaints of ragging had been reported, said university officials.

Police, under Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena, have initiated an investigation following the parents' allegations, in what appears to be a suspected suicide. Results will be shared once probing concludes.
