The NGO Shramjeevi Sanghatana has declared intentions to protest the Palghar Zilla Parishad's decision to suspend grades 9 and 10 across 57 schools, citing financial constraints and unresolved issues with teachers' salaries.
This move, according to the ZP, was due to the lack of official state sanction for these teaching roles, resulting in the Tribal Development Department withholding funds. Renowned activist Suresh Renjad described the decision as detrimental to students in remote tribal regions, potentially forcing them to travel far or leave school entirely.
Approximately 7,000 students are currently enrolled in these schools. Planned protests include a march to the District Collector's office, a 'Shikshan Bachao' village campaign, and a dharna outside the education department involving both parents and students.
