The Uttarakhand government has reinstated Yash Pal Negi as the principal of the State Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition in New Tehri. This decision follows a prolonged legal battle concerning his alleged financial misconduct and other charges. The reinstatement order came on April 10, 2026, after Negi withdrew his legal challenge against the dismissal.
Formerly dismissed by Tourism Secretary Sachin Kurve in 2024, Negi's charges included financial irregularities and allegations around his PhD credentials. The accusations led to a legal standoff, escalating to the Supreme Court. However, after presenting verified documents, the court permitted his reinstatement.
Local MLA Kishore Upadhyay claims the dismissal was part of a 'planned conspiracy'. Negi maintains that the accusations were unfounded, expressing relief as justice has prevailed with the government's decision. He officially resumed his duties immediately following the reinstatement order.
