Heavy rainfall and hailstorms, accompanied by strong winds, battered multiple districts in Uttarakhand on Sunday morning, causing widespread disruption. Authorities have placed all district officials on high alert in response to road blockages and power outages caused by uprooted trees. Vinod Kumar Suman, the Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary, led a review meeting to assess the situation.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts more rain and thunderstorms across the region, with snowfall at higher altitudes. An 'orange alert' remains for areas including Dehradun and Haridwar, expecting severe weather with winds reaching 40-50 kmph. Temperatures are projected to drop over the coming days. The past 24 hours saw temperatures dip significantly below normal.

Dehradun experienced overcast skies, with rainfall recorded across the state, disrupting normal activities. Secretary Suman emphasized the need to prioritize clearing roads and ensuring the safety of the Char Dham Yatra pilgrims. Helicopter services will adhere to weather advisories strictly, and officials are directed to ensure public convenience amid the storms.
