Ceiling Collapse in Banswara School Raises Safety Concerns

Four students were injured when part of a ceiling collapsed in a classroom at a senior secondary school in Banswara, Rajasthan. The building, in a state of disrepair, had been reported as unsafe. Following the incident, authorities plan to close certain rooms and operate in shifts.

In Banswara, Rajasthan, a concerning incident unfolded at a government senior secondary school where four students sustained minor injuries due to a ceiling plaster collapse. The unsettling event took place during a Class 11 session, as the debris suddenly descended onto desks and benches, officials reported.

The affected students received immediate hospital treatment and have since been discharged. School principal Arun Vyas revealed the building's dilapidation, stating that out of the 13 rooms, eight are in precarious condition, including three deemed highly unsafe.

With the premises last repaired two years ago, costing Rs 10 lakh, the District Education Officer, Jaideep Purohit, announced precautionary measures. Three rooms will remain closed, and the school will operate in two shifts as further actions are contemplated.
