Empowering Schools: Unveiling Stronger SMC Guidelines 2026

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the School Management Committee (SMC) Guidelines 2026, highlighting community involvement, infrastructure upgrades, and updated pedagogy as per NEP 2020. These guidelines aim to enhance learning outcomes and governance. New NCERT textbooks for higher classes will be introduced in upcoming years.

In a bid to enhance the quality and governance of schools, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan introduced the School Management Committee (SMC) Guidelines 2026. The guidelines aim to bolster community involvement, improve infrastructure, and upgrade pedagogical methods, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020.

Speaking at the launch event, attended by education ministers and officials from various states, Pradhan emphasized that while SMCs are not new, their evolution remains pivotal to school development. Reviewing past academic curricula as the foundation for future learning is a key strategy outlined in the guidelines.

As the NEP 2020 approaches its seventh year, the guidelines signify a renewed focus on educational reform. To complement these efforts, NCERT plans to provide new textbooks for classes 10, 11, and 12 in the coming years, signifying a comprehensive approach to educational advancement.
