NEET-UG Paper Leak Sparks Demand for Reform in National Testing Agency

The recent NEET-UG paper leak incident has led Congress to criticize the National Testing Agency's (NTA) credibility and demand its restructuring due to corruption concerns. The Congress party has raised serious concerns over the integrity of the National Testing Agency (NTA) following the recent NEET-UG paper leak, which led to the exam's cancellation. The incident has cast doubt on the NTA's purpose and effectiveness, sparking debates about its restructuring.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary, accused the Modi government of undermining a longstanding admission process, replacing it with a centralized agency mired in corruption. He noted the Parliamentary Standing Committee's observation that several 2024 national exams conducted by the NTA experienced similar breaches.

The NTA, under scrutiny for repeatedly failing to deliver annual reports to Parliament, has now been tasked with ensuring transparency as the government initiates a comprehensive inquiry into the NEET-UG irregularities. A fresh examination date will be announced, affecting nearly 23 lakh students.
