With the admission season approaching, Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh underscored the significance of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in promoting diversity among students, as it attracts individuals from multiple boards, states, and socio-economic backgrounds.
In an interview with PTI, Singh defended the centralised entrance exam system, asserting that CUET has established a ‘level playing field’ for students from diverse education boards and regions, unlike the previous system that saw admissions concentrated from a few boards due to differing grading standards.
Singh highlighted infrastructural developments, backed by a 2,000 crore grant from the government, to support the transition to a four-year undergraduate program under the National Education Policy, emphasizing Delhi University's commitment to fostering innovation and research.
