A young man has been arrested here for allegedly using a fake name and eloping with a 17-year-old girl who was in a live-in relationship with him, police said on Tuesday.

Sambhal Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra said a case was registered after Arvind Kumar had complained to Chandausi police station on July 11 stating that his 17-year-old daughter was taken by a youth named Aasif Qureshi.

Police said it was found that the couple was staying together in a live-in relationship in Jaipur.

An 'ikraarnama' (agreement) was also recovered in which instead of Aasif Qureshi, it had Ashish written on it. Qureshi and his uncle Mohammad Umar have been arrested in this connection, and sent to jail, police added.

The girl has been sent for a medical examination.

The teenager has also told the police that the accused had told her that his name was Ashish, and had taken her to Jaipur by deception.

''Three months ago we became friends, and he had introduced himself as Ashish. I came to know his real name after coming to the police station,'' she told the police.
