'Hawkeye' star Fra Fee boards 'Beauty and the Beast' prequel series at Disney Plus

''Hawkeye'' star Fra Fee has joined the cast of the prequel musical series to 2017 hit movie ''Beauty and the Beast''.

The eight-episode series, which comes from Disney Branded Television and ABC Signature, will focus on the characters Gaston and LeFou, played by actors Luke Evans and Josh Gad respectively in the original movie.

According to Deadline, Fee will play Prince Benoit Berlioz, a childhood friend of Tilly’s who has grown into a handsome, charismatic, confident prince.

''The Tender Bar'' actor Briana Middleton will also feature in the series in the role of Tilly, LeFou's stepsister.

Set in the iconic kingdom of ''Beauty and the Beast'' years before the Beast and Belle's epic romance, the story will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with LeFou's step-sister, Tilly, after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure.

While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbours many secrets, the official plotline read.

Tony Award-nominated director Liesl Tommy will direct the first episode.

The project will feature an original soundtrack from the Award-winning composer Alan Menken, who scored both the 1991 and 2017 ''Beauty and the Beast'' movies.

Tommy and Menken are also executive producing, with Evans producing.

Fee was most recently played the role of Kazi Kazimierczak in the Marvel-Disney Plus series ''Hawkeye''. His screen credits include movies such as ''Les Miserables'' and Camila Cabello-starrer ''Cinderella''.
