As ‘Sherlock’ creators revealed that the show was far away from cancellation, the chance for ‘Sherlock’ Season 5 got virtually confirmed. Since then fans are quite excited to see Benedict Cumberbatch playing the protagonist role Sherlock Homes in the series.

Although ‘Sherlock’ Season 5 can be considered confirmed based on executive producers Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat’s hints, work on the much-awaited season is temporarily halted. Benedict Cumberbatch is currently busy in the production work of Toby Haynes’s upcoming TV drama film Brexit, which is slated to be released on HBO on January 19, 2019.

Another hint of ‘Sherlock’ Season 5’s continuation is that Benedict Cumberbatch said he was eager to play the role of Sherlock Homes again. “Nobody has ever closed the door on Sherlock — we just say the same thing all the time and it gets quoted different ways,” ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Doctor Strange’ actor said in an interview with Radio Times.

Speedy’s Café owner Chris Georgiou earlier said in a conversation with TimeOut that the detective show would again come back for another season. He had closely worked with the cast and crew of ‘Sherlock’ and his outlet also served meals at the set. He is believed to be in touch with the series creator and may have an idea when his service will be renewed during the production work.

The executive producers, on the other hand, revealed in October this year that they were working for ‘Dracula’, a BBC-Netflix series. It (the series) is said to be revolving around the blood-drinking count from Transylvania who sets his sights on Victoria London.

Since they are all set to commence working on ‘Dracula’ it is reportedly tough for them to work in tandem for ‘Sherlock’ Season 5 until the former series’ filming is completed. Thus, there is a very less chance for the detective series to have its premiere in 2019.

Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch is likely to be quite busy with other projects like ‘Ironbark’, ‘Rouge Male’ and ‘Rio’. His upcoming movie ‘Avengers 4’ titled ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is slated to hit the big screens on April 26, 2019, hence the actor is already booked for the promotion of the movie.
