Actor Hamish Linklater, known for his roles in 'Manhunt' and 'The Crazy Ones', has officially joined the cast of Prime Video’s 'Gen V' for its second season as a series regular. The series, grounded in the universe of the streamer’s popular show 'The Boys', focuses on the training of the first generation of superheroes at Godolkin University, unraveling the mystery of Compound V—a substance that grants humans extraordinary powers. Unlike previous generations, this new wave of heroes discovers their abilities were not naturally-given but injected.

Linklater will portray Cipher, the newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University, described as 'charismatic and charming.' According to Deadline, Cipher is a scientist with a knack for political maneuvering, enjoying the trust and admiration of top officials.

The cast also includes Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn. The production faced a significant setback when Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson in the first season, tragically died in a motorcycle accident. Filming in Toronto was briefly postponed to mourn Perdomo's loss and reevaluate the show's direction. 'Gen V' is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, alongside Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.
