Twenty-eight-year-old Angad Kumar Paswan from Jharkhand's Garhwa District could hardly believe his eyes as he held the invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony on Sunday evening.
Paswan, one of the 90 construction workers invited, said that the grand event at Rashtrapati Bhavan kept him awake for two nights. His joy was echoed by 50-year-old Muni Thakur, who thanked PM Modi for the recognition and expressed his desire to take a selfie with him. Paswan and others were hosted by former Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya before the ceremony.
Modi's third consecutive swearing-in as Prime Minister will be attended by international leaders, corporate titans, and Bollywood celebrities. The event holds historic significance as Modi equals the record of Jawaharlal Nehru's three successive terms as India's Prime Minister.
