'Excavations comprising four trenches have exposed the foundational structure of a Lord Shiv temple, complete with a Shivling,' stated Amol Gote, the Nanded division head of the state Archaeology Department. 'Additionally, a significant number of bricks were discovered, indicating their historical use in the temple's construction.'
This remarkable find complements three stone inscriptions mentioning donor contributions to these temples dating back to around 1070 AD, underscoring the area's importance as the former capital of the Kalyani Chalukyas.
