Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Tripura on Kokborok Day, celebrating the indigenous language's cultural significance. In a social media post, Kharge emphasized the language's ancient roots and its contribution to India's rich cultural tapestry.

Kokborok serves as the mother tongue for several communities, including Debbarma, Reang, and Tripura. Officially recognized as a state language in Tripura in 1979, it is spoken by 8,80,537 people, accounting for nearly 24% of the state's population, as per the 2011 Census.

Marking the 48th anniversary, Tripura Congress President Asish Kumar Saha and the Indian Overseas Congress also conveyed their warm wishes, advocating for greater recognition and respect for the language on a global scale. The day stands as a testament to the unity and cultural pride within the diverse communities of Tripura.
