Tragic Homecoming: 31 Indians Return in Coffins After Kuwait Fire

The mortal remains of 31 Indians, including 23 Malayalees, who perished in the Kuwait fire tragedy, were received at an international airport. Central and state ministers, including Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, paid their tributes. The Indian and Kuwaiti governments are urged to take preventive measures and provide compensation to the families.

The mortal remains of 31 Indian nationals, including 23 Malayalees, tragically claimed by a devastating fire in Kuwait, were received at the international airport on Friday. The solemn event saw Central and state ministers, including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, paying tribute to the deceased.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) flight had transported the remains of 45 Indians who perished in the Kuwait fire incident, landing at the international airport at approximately 10:30 AM. Out of the 45, 31 bodies were received at the said airport, comprising 23 Keralites, 7 Tamilians, and one person from Karnataka.

Chief Minister Vijayan, addressing the media at the airport, emphasized that 'pravasis' (expatriates) form the lifeline of Kerala, and the tragic loss marked a colossal disaster for the nation and the expatriate community. He stressed the importance of preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future, calling for adequate compensation for the bereaved families from the Kuwaiti government and prompt action from the Indian government.
