Saryu Mahotsav Kicks Off in Ayodhya with Devotional Fervor

Saryu Jayanti, which celebrates the mythical birth of the river, coincides with Jyeshtha Purnima, occurring this year on June 22.

On Thursday, devout Hindus offered prayers and performed rituals along the ghats. According to local priest Om Prakash Pandey, 'Saryu Jayanti will be observed on 22nd June aligning with Jyestha Purnima. The auspicious timings for Saryu Jayanti have been set starting from Saryu Mahotsav.' The Saryu River is prominently mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures and epics, including the Ramayana. Ayodhya, positioned on the river’s banks, is famed as the birthplace of Lord Rama.
