In a heartfelt response to a viral video featuring Telugu superstar Nagarjuna's bodyguard pushing a differently-abled fan, filmmaker Jai Mehta has called for celebrities to show more compassion. The video, which took social media by storm on Sunday, depicts Nagarjuna walking through an airport with his security team and 'Kubera' co-star Dhanush when the fan attempted to approach him. Unfortunately, the fan was pushed away by Nagarjuna's bodyguard, causing him to stumble.
Nagarjuna has since apologized for the incident, stating that he was unaware it occurred. 'This just came to my notice... this shouldn’t have happened!! I apologize to the gentleman and will take necessary precautions that it will not happen in the future!!' the actor posted on his X account.
Jai Mehta, son of filmmaker Hansal Mehta, took to social media on Monday with a pointed message. He emphasized the need for celebrity security details to be educated on handling fans more respectfully. Citing his own brother Pallava, who has Down's syndrome and is a fan of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, Mehta expressed fears of similar incidents occurring. 'What would really break my heart is... if my brother got pushed by someone he idolizes,' he wrote. Hansal Mehta added that despite several attempts to facilitate a meeting between Pallava and Nagarjuna, it never materialized, revealing, 'I gave up. Now his cognitive abilities have declined, and this will have no meaning even if it has to happen.'
