Honoring Buddhadeb Dasgupta: Maestro of Surreal Art

A tribute event titled 'Celebrating Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Master of Surreal Art' will be held on July 6 to honor the late auteur. Highlights include a screening of his film 'Tope' and a masterclass by cinematographer Asim Bose. The event is organized by the Buddhadeb Dasgupta Memorial Trust.

A tribute titled 'Celebrating Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Master of Surreal Art' is scheduled for July 6 to honor the life and contributions of the acclaimed filmmaker, who passed away over two years ago.

Organized by the Buddhadeb Dasgupta Memorial Trust in collaboration with the Forum for Film Studies and Allied Arts, the event will be held at the state-run film complex Nandan. The highlight of the evening will be a screening of his acclaimed film 'Tope' (The Bait/2016).

Internationally renowned director Goutam Ghosh and veteran cinematographer Asim Bose will be attending. Bose will conduct a masterclass titled 'The Magic of Moving Images.' The event will also feature a discussion led by Abhijit Basu on 'Folklore in Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Cinema,' examining the use of folk music as an alternative narrative in his films like 'Uttara' (The Wrestlers/2000).
