Alec Baldwin is receiving steadfast support from his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, as he navigates his criminal trial for the 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film 'Rust.'
Hilaria Baldwin was present on the first day of the trial in New Mexico, accompanied by Alec's siblings, Stephen Baldwin and Beth Keuchler. According to a source speaking to PEOPLE, Hilaria will stay in New Mexico for the trial, providing emotional support to Alec.
The source conveyed that Alec is deeply reliant on Hilaria's presence during this stressful period, stating, "She's incredibly supportive and will be at the trial every day." The source added that the couple is eager for the trial to conclude, with Hilaria maintaining faith in Alec's innocence.
Married to Alec since 2012, Hilaria was also at the courthouse on Tuesday, July 9, accompanied by two of their seven children. Alec Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges, claiming he did not pull the trigger and was unaware the gun contained live ammunition. The incident, which occurred on October 21, 2021, resulted in Hutchins' death and injured director Joel Souza.
If convicted, Alec could face up to 18 months in prison. Prosecutors have already sentenced Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed to 18 months for similar charges. In his opening statement, Alec's attorney, Alex Spiro, emphasized Alec's adherence to standard procedures, insisting that Baldwin committed no crime.
Spiro told the jury, "Not a day goes by when we don't wish Alec had saved her life. But never, the witnesses will tell you, in history has an actor intercepted a live bullet from a prop gun. No one could have imagined or expected an actor to do that." (ANI)
