Odisha Assembly's Heated Debate Over Rath Yatra Incident

Naveen Patnaik, the Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, has urged Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to take immediate action against those responsible for the fall of Lord Balabhadra's idol during the Rath Yatra festival.

In his letter, Patnaik noted that the mishap deeply hurt devotees' sentiments globally. He emphasized that Lord Jagannath symbolizes Odia pride and identity, and such an unprecedented incident during the 'Pahandi' ritual has never occurred before in the Rath Yatra festival.

Chief Minister Majhi acknowledged the gravity of the incident, mentioning that he has instructed Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan to ensure future mishaps are prevented. Additionally, BJP leader Bhartruhari Mahtab has questioned the presence of many people on the chariot during the ritual, while a complaint has been filed against the Jagannath temple's chief administrator for his absence during the incident.
