Nino Salukvadze: Aiming for a Record 10th Olympic Appearance

Nino Salukvadze is poised to become just the second athlete ever to compete in 10 Olympic Games when she steps up to the mark in Paris. The Georgian shooting legend sees this milestone as the fulfillment of her late father's last request.

Making her Olympic debut as a 19-year-old at the 1988 Seoul Games, Salukvadze won gold and silver for the then Soviet Union. She has participated in every Olympics since, representing Georgia from 1996 onwards, and completed her medal set with a bronze in Beijing 2008.

Recalling her Olympic journey, Salukvadze shared memories of being showered with gifts in Seoul, competing alongside her son in Rio, and the poignancy of the Georgia-Russia conflict at the 2008 Beijing Games. Now 55, she is preparing for Paris, where she will compete away from the main Olympic venue cluster, lamenting the lost spirit of togetherness.
