Farewell to a Hero: Captain Brijesh Thapa Honored with Full Military Salutes

Captain Brijesh Thapa, who tragically lost his life while engaging with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda, was laid to rest with full military honors in his ancestral village in West Bengal's Darjeeling district.
The air was filled with chants of ''Brijesh Thapa Amar Rahe'' as a large crowd gathered to honor the fallen officer. His father, Colonel Bhuwanesh K Thapa (Retd), reminisced about his son's lifelong dream of serving in the Army.
''I feel proud of my son. He did his duty,'' the retired colonel told reporters, highlighting the legacy of their family's military commitment.
Captain Thapa's remains arrived at Jing Tea Estate in Lebong on Thursday, receiving heartfelt tributes from politicians, senior government officials, and military personnel from various branches.
In a post on X, Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army commemorated Captain Thapa's valor, noting he made the ultimate sacrifice on July 15, 2024, during a gunfight in Doda. Full military honors were accorded in recognition of his bravery and service. Four Army personnel, including Captain Thapa, succumbed to injuries from the intense encounter with the terrorists.
Captain Thapa, who joined the Army five years ago, was just 27 years old. His sacrifice and dedication are etched into the legacy he leaves behind.
